Real Madrid survives a thrilling battle against Olympiacos to win the first-ever EuroLeague Super Cup (89–93).
Pedro Martínez leads the Spanish squad to the season’s first title in just his second official game with the team. Edy Tavares was named tournament MVP, while Luwawu-Cabarrot—just as he was against Dubai—was Real Madrid’s top scorer (12 points).
Nick Smith Jr., Gabriele Procida, Max Shulga, and Olivier Sarr did not play for Real Madrid. Although Donta Hall played a great game, the absence of Nikola Milutinov may have been decisive for the Greek team.
Sasha Vezenkov (22 points) led the fourth-quarter comeback attempt, but Real Madrid defended well in the crucial moments to win the title in Abu Dhabi. The EuroLeague champions were unable to defeat a solid Real Madrid side, which looked more comfortable than it had in the semifinals against Dubai.
