Emmanuel Grégoire, the mayor of Paris, was in New York and met with Zohran Mamdani, the mayor of New York.
Mamdani is a big sports fan, so Grégoire gifted him a Paris Basketball jersey with the number 75, which signifies Paris’s department code.
Mamdani has been a regular at New York Knicks games this season, and the Knicks became champions; he watched the big final and the long-awaited title for the Knicks live.
He also broke the Ramadan fast with Mohamed Diawara, a Knicks player who earlier in his career played for Paris.
Regarding the team from the French capital, they are set to begin the new EuroLeague season on Thursday, following their win in the French championship season opener in the LNB Supercup against Roanne.
On Thursday, their EuroLeague opponent will be Panathinaikos.
