Veteran big man Petr Gubanov returns to Khimki Moscow Region with a new two year contract.

According to the EuroLeague press release:

Khimki Moscow Region strengthened its frontcourt by signing power forward Petr Gubanov to a two-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Gubanov (2.06 meters, 31 years old), arrives from Nizhny Novgorod, where he averaged 11.6 points on 43.2% three-point shooting and 3.9 rebounds in 25 VTB United League games last season. He also helped Nizhny reach the Russian Cup final. He previously played for Khimki in the 2009-10 season, when Gubanov made his EuroLeague debut. Gubanov has also played for Russian teams CSK VVS Samara, Lobnya Moscow Region, Universitet-Yugra Surgut, Dynamo Moscow, UNICS Kazan and Enisey Krasnoyarsk. He has taken part in 41 EuroLeague games with UNICS and Khimki and been a member of the Russian national team.

“Gubanov is a versatile player who can help us at the ‘4’ and ‘5’ spots. I am sure he will fit in our system,” Khimki head coach Georgios Bartzokas said. “He is a reliable shooter and also knows how to play with his back to the basket. He had an excellent season with Nizhny and I only heard good things about Petr’s efficiency and personal skills. We wanted to add another Russian player and Gubanov was the best candidate.”
