FC Bayern basketball saved the best for last. Derrick Williams has signed a contract with the German champions until the end of the season. The 27-year-old forward has played in 428 NBA games, averaging 8.9 points and four rebounds.

The No. 2 pick of the 2011 NBA Drafts has been with the team for almost two weeks and completed the medical examinations at the beginning of the week.

“No team can afford to lose the intelligence and presence of a player like Milan Macvan, so we are no exception,” said sporting director Daniele Baiesi. “However, Derrick Williams is not a substitute for our injured power forward. Derrick’s enormous talent is obvious and it would be crazy to say that he has convinced us with his quality. We are just delighted with the opportunity to work with such a good player”.

Derrick Williams himself added: “Everyone I talked to about this option told me the same. I know that this program is still quite young in Munich and Bayern just returned to the EuroLeague. I wanted to join the EuroLeague, it’s a great competition, one of the biggest in the world; That’s why Bayern Munich was a good opportunity for me. And of course, we also want to become a champion. That’s what you play for, you work hard for that. I want to help the team win games. My personal goal is to improve, to evolve. I know that I have to adapt to other lines and rules, but that will not be an excuse – I want to go back to the court and I’ll be ready soon. ”
