Giannis Sfairopoulos, who recently took charge of Maccabi’s bench, gave an interview to the team’s “Fast Break” show on Youtube, highlighting the quality and tradition of the club in Europe.

“Many coaches dream of working for Maccabi, so I’m very thankful to be here,” stated Sfairopoulos.

The Greek coach is aware of Maccabi’s fans and the atmosphere they create in the stadium, having witnessed all that when he traveled to Tel Aviv as an opponent.

“I remember how difficult it is to play as an opponent against Maccabi, because of the tremendous noise that the fans make during the game, the players were not able to hear me during timeouts. Now I hope the fans will make so much noise that they will be our sixth player.”

Sfairopoulos has joined the team in the midst of a tough season thus far, as Maccabi struggles in EuroLeague.

“I believe in the staff and we will work together until the end. I know that each of us will do our best to succeed”, he added.
