Petteri Koponen hit the game-winner at the buzzer for Bayern against his former team, Barcelona, and expressed his emotions after the end of the game, noting how special the game turned out to be both for him and the team.

“I think we fought all game, 40 minutes. We gave the effort and played good defense. We knew we played a little bit bad in the last few weeks and we wanted to show that we are a different team. We did that tonight and you know, a win is a win, we take it.”

On his game-winner: “I was happy that I scored tonight the game-winning basket. Some other days is someone else, but tonight, it was me and it feels good. It is a good feeling; I spent two years there [in Barcelona] and know a lot of people from there. Of course, it was a special game, also for me. I had a difficult first half, I think I only took one shot, but in the second half, Coach let me play more and I was a little bit lucky tonight in the end and made the shot.”

Coach Dejan Radonjic was also ecstatic after the end of the game, praising his players for the victory:

“It was a tough game. We played better than in Greece [on Tuesday], which was what we wanted before the game. They had the advantage, but in the last minutes, we played great defense and smart offense. It was, in the end, a close game – one shot, free throws, something like that. Koponen hit the last shot and for us, of course, it is a big win. We won against Barcelona and for us, it is big.”
