Bayern officially tabs Greg Monroe

Derrick Williams was FC Bayern Munich’s star last year, Greg Monroe is set to assume the same role during the 2019-20 season. The German side confirmed the addition of the 28-year-old American forward on Thursday.

After Josh Huestis and T.J. Bray, the Georgetown alumni, 7th pick in the 2010 NBA draft, is the third new arrival for Bayern during the summer transfer period. Monroe will play in Europe for the first time following nine consecutive NBA seasons since 2011.

He had stints with the Toronto Raptors, the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers during his 2018-19 campaign, previously played five seasons with the Detroit Pistons and three with the Milwaukee Bucks, put on the jersey of the Phoenix Suns as well.

Monroe is a veteran of 659 NBA games including 27 in the Playoffs. This time around, he will have the opportunity to test his strength in Europe’s premier competition, EuroLeague, will also compete in the German easyCredit BBL.
