It was confirmed by himself back on April on Eurohoops and now it’s official. Sonny Weems returns to Europe for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The former CSKA Moscow star is part of the new project of the team with a two year deal and after a season in the NBA he is back in the Euroleague. On July 17, 2015, Weems signed a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. He made his debut for the Suns in the team’s season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on October 28, recording 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in a 111–95 loss. On January 26, 2016, he scored a season-high 12 points in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. On March 5, 2016, he was waived by the Suns after averaging 2,5 points, 1,3 assists, 1,1 rebounds and 11,7 minutes in 36 games.

On March 7, 2016, Weems was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia 76ers. He never had the chance to show what he can do with his new team and on March 26 he was waived. Few days after that, not only Maccabi knocked on his door, but they made a deal with him.
