Nick Johnson and Kyle Wiltjer lead Turk Telekom to opening win over Strasbourg

Nick Johnson and Kyle Wiltjer had everything under control as they paced Turk Telekom to an 83-76 home win against SIG Strasbourg in the first clash of the Basketball Champions League Playoffs.

Johnson scored 21 points on 7-10 shooting including 4-5 from deep while also adding six points and four assists. Wiltjer scored 14 and grabbed eight rebounds while the recent additions in Marcus Foster and Johnny O’Bryant helped with 16 and 11 points respectively.

On the opposing side, Bonzie Colson tried to change his team’s fate with 18 points while Brandon Jefferson scored 15and DeAndre Lansdowne 12 points. Ike Udnaoh scored seven points but also grabbed ten boards.

Turk Telekom gambled away a 15-point lead (43-28) from the second quarter as the French squad cut the gap to just three points (53-50) but the hosts responded instantly with a 7-0 run which got them back to double-digits and coupled with an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter decided the outcome.
