Max Heidegger and Oldenburg edged feisty Rytas

Rytas Vilnius never gave up, the game was close from wire to wire, but the host EWE Baskets Oldenburg managed to get the 76-72 win and start the Basketball Champions League season in Group H the right way.

To be exact, Rytas’ Mindaugas Girdziunas lost the chance to tie the game with 24” left on the clock, Bennet Hundt got the rebound and made two free throws to seal the deal (74-70). In total, he scored 15, but it was Max Heidegger before him that made things happen with key buckets down the stretch and a total of 26 points.

Ivan Buva did his best for the losing side by scoring 21 points and cutting the lead to two (74-72) in the next possession. However, Heidegger got the ball, he was fouled, went to the line, and restored order (76-72).

Speedy Smith tried with a quick three to get make it a one-point game for Rytas, he missed and the game was over. Smith finished the night with just four points and 0/6 threes.
