Manresa got the 81-76 win, but Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski proved on their first Basketball Champions League game that they are not easy opponents. The Polish champs stayed in the game until the closing seconds, trailing just by three (79-76) and trying to steal the win.

Guillem Jou sealed the deal with two free throws for the hosts, as Manresa started their season in the BCL the right way in Group B. Jou was the top scorer of the winning side with 18 points, Joe Thomasson added 17 and Ismael Bako had 15.

Still, the guests led even by 12 (46-34) during an admirable second period which had a partial 26-11 score in their favor. Michael Young with 16 points was the top scorer of the losing side which couldn’t keep in the second half, as Manresa scored 46 points and kept Stal Ostrow to 30.

However, Stal Ostrow proved beyond any doubt that they belong to this level of competition.
