AEK acquires forward Akil Mitchell for next season

AEK Athens announced the signings of forward Akil Mitchell to a contract for the 2022-23 season. The American-Panamanian is returning to the Basketball Champions League after a brief stint he had with Pinar Karsiyaka in 2021.

Mitchell, 30, last played for Brose Bamberg in Germany. He averaged 12.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in the German BBL League to help his team make the playoffs.

Since he began his career in 2014 with the G-League’s Rio Grande Vipers, Mitchell played in France, New Zealand, Italy and Israel. He had a particularly strong season during his stay in the latter with Maccabi Rishon, posting 15.6 points and 8.8 rebounds.
