Bilbao’s Drew Goudelock out long term

Bilbao announced that veteran guard Drew Goudelock suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his left leg and will thus remain out of action long term. The American player was the team’s leading scorer last season.

Goudelock, 33, was injured during a preseason game of Bilbao against Porto Saturday (27/9). He hit his knee and the examinations he underwent confirmed the extent of the injury that will keep him out for several months.

This is a major blow for both the Goudelock and Bilbao that will be without its biggest star and leader. The Basque side is entering 2022-23 hoping to make a strong run in both the Basketball Champions League and the Spanish ACB League.

Goudelock, a former EuroCup MVP, All-EuroLeague and All-EuroCup player, arrived at Bilbao in 2021. He previously had stints with several European powerhouses such as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce Beko and Olimpia Milano while appearing in 58 NBA games with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets.
