Marcus Foster and Elvar Mar Fridriksson of Rytas along with JDA Dijon’s Gavin Ware, Unicaja’s Dario Brizuela, and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg’s Justin Johnson were shortlisted as the most impactful players in the fifth week of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season, as announced Friday.

Fan votes will determine the best player of Week 5.

Per the press release: “Sixteen teams were in action during the third week of the Basketball Champions League Season Seven. We set up a poll with five most impactful players and asked the fans who was the player of the week.

We have narrowed the list down to five names, using the Viziball Advanced Stats system. These five guys were the most impactful in their teams’ wins this week.

Peristeri bwin’s Miro Bilan got the most votes in the first week, Falco Vulcano Szombathely’s Zoltan Perl was the fan favorite in the second week.

Third week belonged to Bnei Ofek Dist Herzliya’s Maurice Kemp, while Jordan Davis of UCAM Murcia won the vote in week four.

Gavin Ware (JDA Bourgogne Dijon)

The French club became the first team with 30+ two-pointers made in the BCL this season, and it was at least one-third because of Gavin Ware. He had 11 two-pointers en route to a 23-point, 8-rebound performance in an 88-80 win over Dinamo BDS Sassari.

Dario Brizuela (Unicaja)

Unicaja are up to 3-0 with authority, and Dario Brizuela has been on MVP level this season. He had 27 points in less than 20 minutes of action against PAOK mateco, setting a new mark for all Spanish players in the BCL. The previous record was 26 points in a game, held by Quino Colom, Pere Tomas and Jonathan Barreiro.

Elvar Fridriksson (Rytas Vilnius)

The champs of Lithuania enjoyed a massive win over Peristeri bwin, and Elvar Fridriksson was one of the reasons why. A week before his 28th birthday, he was in celebratory mood with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Rytas were a +31 team with him on the floor.

Marcus Foster (Rytas Vilnius)

The other reason for that big win was Marcus Foster. Number 17 had 17 points in 17 minutes in the first half alone, and finished the game with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Foster scored 20+ points in all three games so far.

Justin Johnson (MHP RIESEN)

The third-placed team from last season looks like the team to beat this season. Justin Johnson is leading the team statistically, and he had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, all done off the bench for the Ludwigsburg squad to take them to 3-0 against Darussafaka in Istanbul.

Time to vote. The winner of the poll will be announced on Saturday evening.”
