A closer look at the Game 1 fixtures of the Basketball Champions League Play-Ins surfaced the five most impactful players.

Martynas Echodas, Jhonathan Dunn, Braian Angola, Janis Strelnieks, and Dohus Ozdemiroglu made the cut, as announced Sunday. From this point, the fans will vote for the best player of the week on the official portal of BCL.

Per ChampionsLeague.Basketball: “Sixteen teams were in action during the first week of the Basketball Champions League Season Seven Play-In Series. We set up a poll with five most impactful players and asked the fans who was the player of the week.

We have narrowed the list down to five names, using the Viziball Advanced Stats system. These five guys were the most impactful in their teams’ wins this week.

Braian Angola (Pinar Karsiyaka)

Even though his team lost the first game in Murcia, Braian Angola deserves a mention here because of his stellar performance. The Colombian guard had 41 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, and also hit 9-of-10 free throws on the night. Angola had the first 40-point game in BCL in four years, and the fourth best scoring game in League history.

Janis Strelnieks (AEK)

It was another big day in Athens, with The Queen emerging victorious. Janis Strelnieks was a big reason why the 2018 champs protected home court, with 16 points, 5 assists and 2 steals. AEK were +8 with him on the floor, the biggest +/- on the team in a three-point win. Strelnieks knocked down four threes and four free throws.

Dogus Ozdemiroglu (Darussafaka)

Darussafaka were one of two teams who stole home court advantage in week one of the Play-In Series. Club legend Dogus Ozdemiroglu led the charge, doing a bit of everything in one of the most Dogus Ozdemiroglu stat lines ever: 18 points, 14 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. He is the first player to get double-doubles in points and assists, and points and rebounds this season.

Martynas Echodas (Rytas Vilnius)

In one of the most efficient games ever, the Lithuanian champions kept feeding their big guy off the bench, and he kept eating under the rim. Echodas put up 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting, with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks, all done in just 20:32 of playing time. He didn’t commit a single foul, and only turned the ball once in his time.

Jhonathan Dunn (MHP RIESEN)

One guy beat us, said Limoges CSP coach Massimo Cancellieri after the game v MHP RIESEN in Ludwigsburg. That one guy was Jhonathan Dunn, hitting nine three-pointers, one shy of BCL record, finishing with 29 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. His efficiency rating said 33, nobody else had more than 23 in that part of the boxscore.”
