After closing the third quarter up by only 5 points (59-54), Unicaja Malaga destroyed AEK in the last ten minutes with the 29-12 run to get the important 88-66 win to open the Sweet 16.

Davi Kravish, who scored more than 10 points in each of his previous three BCL games, as often as in his previous 15 appearances in the competition, led the way with 22 points and 5 rebounds, shooting almost perfectly from the field (9/10).

Kendrick Perry was the conductor of Ibon Navarro’s team, scoring 22 points and dishing 6 dimes. In his Basketball Champions League debut with Unicaja, last year’s runner-up Yankuba Sima had 13 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.

For the black-and-yellow opponents, Akil Mitchell was in beast mode once again. He scored more than 15 points in each of his previous four BCL games after reaching 15 points in only two of his previous seven games, and against the Spanish team, he had a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Isaiah Miles gave a good contribution for AEK, with 14 points and 5 rebounds. However, the former Hapoel Holon American player wasn’t enough for his team.

After Galatasaray NEF dismantled Limoges CSP on Tuesday, Unicaja Malaga has now reached the Turkish side on top of Group K.
