Dinamo Sassari signed forward Vassilis Charalampopoulos, the Italian club announced. The 26-year-old Greek player is set to return to the Basketball Champions League after 2017-18 and remain in the Italian League for a third straight year.

Charalampopoulos comes off a pretty solid 2022-23 campaign in the Serie A, averaging 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists as his team made the playoffs for a second straight season. He had previously played in Italy for Reyer Venezia (briefly in 2021) and Fortitudo Bologna (in 2021-22).

As a teenager, Charalampopoulos was considered one of the top players in Europe. He had a strong run with the Greek national team in international competitions, winning MVP in both the U20 European Championship of 2017 and the U18 EuroBasket of 2018 while leading his squad to the gold medal in both tournaments.

From 2013 to 2021, Charalampopoulos appeared in 39 EuroLeague games with Panathinaikos Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus.
