Alexander Madsen is a new player of Karditsa Iaponiki, the team announced on Monday.

Bouncing back in the Basketball Champions League, the 30-year-old big will play in Group G of the Regular Season, opposite back-to-back defending champion Unicaja, lasting original Filou Oostende, and fellow newcomer Mersin Spor. Fresh out of furthering his international career with Finland in EuroBasket 2025 with 1.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest, he will add to his BCL tally of 44 appearances, spread between four years with VEF Riga and one with AEK. Last season with Hiopos Leida in Spain’s Liga Endesa, Madsen went for 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Preparing to face Dreamland Gran Canaria, Le Mans, and Spartak Office Shoes in Group H, Benfica announced a one-year contract extension with 36-year-old Jose Silva on Monday. Besides committing to a ninth season with the Lisbon outfit, the experienced winger is a veteran of 26 games in FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition, including 24 with the Eagles. Last season, he tallied 5.8 points per contest over six appearances from the Qualifiers to the Regular Season.

On Tuesday, fellow BCL outfit Rytas penned 18-year-old Arminas Vilkas, a regular with the junior national teams of Lithuania, to a long-term contract. The youngster is projected to start the 2025-26 season on the reserve team.

Following the Qualifiers in Samokov to complete the regular-season field, the tenth season, focusing on 32 teams split into eight equal groups, will begin on October 7.
