AEK secured another win in the FIBA BCL in Athens, defeating Levice 99-88 at home after overtime.
The game in Greece was decided after big drama, as Levice had a chance to win in the closing moments of regulation. The visitors had an (82-80) lead after a 7-0 run, but Frank Bartley tied the game with a steal and a score.
The same player had a chance to win the game for AEK in the last second, missed a three-pointer, but it didn’t cost the home team, which easily overcame the Slovaks in overtime for an important victory.
Bartley finished the game with 22 points and seven assists, while Chris Silva had 19 points and nine rebounds. RaiQuan Gray was also impressive with 16 points and six assists.
For the visitors, Akol Mawein had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Rickey McGill added 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
With this win, AEK reached a 5-0 record, securing the top spot in Group F and a direct advance to the Top 16 round, making their sixth-round game against Szolnoki on the road irrelevant in terms of results.
On the other hand, Levice will host VEF Riga in a crucial match.
