AEK Athens secured a victory in the fourth round of Group J in the Round of 16 in the Basketball Champions League by defeating AS Karditsa away with a score of 90-62.
The top scorer for the winning team was James Nunnally, who finished the game with 32 points (5/6 for two, 5/7 for three and 7/9 from free throw line), seven rebounds, and four assists, while Frank Bartley also performed excellently with 17 points. On the other hand, Aaron Estrada was the best for the opposing team with 11 points and five assists.
The team from Athens continued their impressive performances, marking their 11th consecutive victory in all competitions. Apart from the first few minutes, where the home team had the advantage, the rest of the match belonged to AEK.
It turned out that the second quarter was crucial, as Dragan Sakota’s team won it 27-9, already securing a significant lead by halftime (53-28). This was enough for the visitors, who managed to routinely see out the match in the second half and secure an important victory.
AEK remains at the top of Group J with a score of 4-0 and is very close to advancing to the quarterfinals. In the next round, the Athenians will face Tofas at home, with the match scheduled in a month’s time. On the other hand, AS Karditsa, having lost all four games, is on the brink of elimination and will look for their first win in the second phase at home against ALBA Berlin.
