Another round of the Basketball Champions League is behind us. The fourth game week of Round of 16 have been played, after which many things are clearer on the table.
Some teams have already advanced, some are eliminated two rounds before the end, while others await decisive battles in the finish.
AEK and Alba advance from Group J
After Tuesday’s matches, it became clear which two teams advanced from Group J: AEK and Alba. On the other hand, Tofas and AS Karditsa are eliminated.
AEK easily defeated AS Karditsa away (90-62) with an outstanding performance from James Nunnally, who scored 32 points, while Alba beat Tofas for the second time this season (69-60).
In the other matches of the day, Rytas won a spectacle in Bulgaria against Hapoel Holon (106-98), Tenerife achieved a bizarre triumph in the Czech Republic against Nymburk (69-55), and to close the program, Chalon became the first to defeat Joventut in this phase (85-77).
Galatasaray takes the celebration from Le Mans
Le Mans could have secured advancement to the quarter-finals with a victory over Galatasaray, but the Turks crushed the French (94-81) after an excellent final quarter and thus complicated everything ahead of the Round of 16 finish.
On Wednesday, Würzburg also secured a victory at home against Unicaja (80-71), marking the Germans’ first triumph in this phase, while Gran Canaria was convincing in Trieste (94-70).
