Joventut managed to defeat AEK with a score of 88-66 in Badalona in the second game of the Basketball Champions League quarter-final series.

By doing so, the host of the Final Four tournament managed to level the series at 1-1, and the third game, scheduled for next Wednesday in Athens, will determine the participant of the F4.

Ahead of this match, AEK issued an official statement addressing several interesting matters. Among other things, they mentioned how they were targeted, how their fans were deprived of support tools in Badalona, and AEK, in their statement, once again highlighted the great successes of the club.

Statement by AEK Athens

“Some people seem to have interpreted our silence over the past few days as a sign of weakness…

Our choice was to maintain a low profile so as not to “add fuel to the fire” ignited by practices of the past century, hoping that the quarter-finals would be conducted in an atmosphere of normalcy and regularity, but also because this is what the value code of our glorious Club represents.

Our choice was, therefore, not to respond to reports about “spies” and “cameras” allegedly copying training sessions at our stadium and to “complaints” about alleged “poor hospitality,” as well as to newer reports before the second quarter-final targeting individuals believed to influence the match. Perhaps we should talk about “poor hospitality,” especially since strange things happened in the last few days and before yesterday’s match. Similarly, odd things happened in the stands, culminating in the ban on using a drum by our wonderful fans who traveled all the way to (and) Catalonia to support our Team, giving a recital of decency with their behavior regardless of results and circumstances, in any European stadium, in our current journey.

It is evident that there are other issues…

However, we will not enter the process of analyzing or feeding the media with details unless provoked.

In short…

“Summarizing” everything that has happened since the quarter-finals draw, we demand (from everyone) RESPECT for the team that…

-Is the oldest in the BCL.

-Has won a BCL trophy, among its many other national and international trophies, and has won a total of three BCL medals (gold, silver, and bronze)!

-Has successfully hosted the final phases (F4, F8) of the BCL 3 times.

-Always strives for the highest goals and will continue to do so with a plan and vision.

-Has duly earned recognition through its actions in social, cultural, and sports levels.

-Holds the unbreakable attendance record in basketball history, recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

-Has millions of fans worldwide…

-Emits from the soul of its lion-hearted fans, breaking the barriers of the mind with their unspeakable passion, as proved on April Fool’s Day at the SUNEL Arena “furnace” and will be even more evident in the third quarter-final on April 15th.

-Has the most significant History for us in global sports, marking 102 years of exile and peaceful grandeur.

THIS IS AEK!

P.S.: Welcome to the BCL, even if you are late!

AEK BC”
