AEK Athens have completed two important roster moves, welcoming Derrick Williams back to Greece and signing Lukas Lekavicius to a two-year contract extension.

Williams, 35, will strengthen AEK at power forward after spending the 2025–26 season with Suwon Sonicboom in South Korea.

The former No. 2 NBA Draft pick previously played in Greece with Panathinaikos during the 2022–23 season. He appeared in 428 NBA games for six teams—the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers—averaging 8.9 points and 4.0 rebounds.

Williams began his European career with Bayern Munich in 2018 and later represented Fenerbahce, Valencia, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Panathinaikos. Before moving to South Korea, he also played for Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico in 2025.

Meanwhile, AEK have extended Lekavicius’ contract until the summer of 2028.

Lukas, we continue together toward great things in the future,” the club said.

The 32-year-old Lithuanian guard averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 16 Basketball Champions League appearances last season, shooting 42.6% from three-point range.

In the Greek league, Lekavicius posted 8.4 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds across 29 games while converting an impressive 46.2% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
