Adama Sanogo is the newest Basketball Champions League Player of the Week. The winner in Week 2 of the 2026–27 season was officially confirmed on Friday.

The Hapoel Maoz Daniel Holon center claimed the honor after a demanding road battle against Spartak Office Shoes at Subotica’s Hala Sportova Dudova Suma. He helped his side edge out the Serbian champions behind his dominant interior play.

The 24-year-old big posted a 29 efficiency rating. In 34:22, he tallied 28 points on an incredibly efficient 9-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Defensively, he was a massive rim protector, swatting five blocks and pulling down four rebounds. This remarkable stat line made him the first player in league history to record at least 25 points and five blocks in a single game.

Winning a fan vote opposite the remaining Team of the Week members Michael Forrest, Akwasi Yeboah, Joe Wieskamp, and J’Wan Roberts, the former NCAA champion with Connecticut in 2023 followed Rytas forward Gytis Radzevicius, who took the opening award in Week 1. Sanogo’s effort snapped a seven-game continental skid for Hapoel Holon, leveling their Group F record at 1–1. Up next on the BCL schedule is a meeting with RASTA Vechta at RASTA Dome on October 28.

Among 32 teams drawn into eight equal groups, playing a six-game, double-legged round-robin format, Holon is looking to claim first place and secure a direct ticket to the Round of 16. Finishing in second and third place would instead force them into a best-of-three Play-In series.

Shortly before the weekly award to Sanogo, the Israeli club sent 24-year-old guard Drew Thelwell on loan to Trepca.
