Following a series of injury setbacks, Unicaja Málaga has entered the market and is currently in discussions with Kevin Knox, according to Eurohoops sources.

The 27-year-old American forward was waived by the Orlando Magic last Friday, October 16, having previously signed an “Exhibit 10” contract with the Florida-based franchise.

This development opens the door for a potential move to European basketball, with the Málaga-based club considering his addition to the roster following a serious injury to Tyson Pérez, who recently underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Knox was one of three players released by Orlando ahead of the new NBA season. During the preseason, he appeared in four games for the Magic, averaging 6.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game.

Selected ninth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, Knox entered the league with high expectations following his collegiate career at Kentucky. However, the small forward has struggled to establish a consistent role in the American league, frequently moving from one team to another.

During his first three-and-a-half seasons in New York, he alternated between promising performances and difficulties in finding consistency. After leaving the Knicks in 2022, he spent time with several other NBA franchises—including the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, and Golden State Warriors—before arriving in Orlando.

Throughout his time in the NBA, Knox has appeared in 320 games, averaging 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. His shooting percentages stand at 39.3% from the field and 34% from three-point range.
