The Lithuanians of Neptunas prevailed over the Latvians of Ventspils with an 87-80 victory at home. It was all but easy for the Lithuanians as the visiting team pushed them to their limits.

After a great effort from both sides in the first quarter, (24-22) Neptunas stepped up their game in the beginning of second period. They started with an 8-0 run extending their lead to double digits (32-22). Still at half time the score was tied at 48.

With both teams walking side by side at the end the hosts managed to make the big plays and remain perfect in the standings.

The Key: Ventspils turned the ball over 24 times and with that many turnovers you can’t expect to win on the road.

The Star: Mindaugas Girdziunas had 18 points, including the most important three of the game with 28,5 seconds before the end.

Girdziunas also had help from his teammates as Juan Palacios recorded 13 points.

Neptunas is now on the top of the Group B standings as the only team with 2 victories in first 2 games.
