Umana Reyer Venezia managed to come back and record a 111-104 home win against UNET Holon after double overtime in the last game of Basketball Champions League Day 2.

Austin Daye scored 10 out of 12 Venezia’s points in the first overtime putting them ahead 94-92 but Holon’s Corey Walden got fouled in the last second and kept a cool head making both free throws to force additional five minutes.

With two minutes left in the second overtime and a tie at 101, MarQuez Haynes and Daye scored ten points together and finally secured the win for Venezia.

For Venezia, Daye finished the game with 30 points while Mitchell Watt added 24 in addition to Hayes’ 17 points. On the other side, Khalif Wyatt banked game-high 35 points for Holon.

It was a game of ups and downs for a while but the first significant advantage belonged to the guests halfway through the second quarter (46-35). Venezia managed to stop them from distancing even more and decreased the deficit to six points at halftime (49-43).

Although Holon also had an upper hand after the break, Venezia was closing the gap constantly and eventually tied the game at 82 with 30 seconds left. The guests had a shot for the win but Darion Atkins missed and the game went into double overtime which in the end belonged to the Italians.

Venezia improved to 2-0 after this win while Holon has a 1-1 record in Group B.
