Brose Bamberg’s head coach Ainars Bagatskis returned to the “Palais des Sports” after 17 years and his squad grabbed a 101-97 overtime win against JDA Dijon on Day 9 of Basketball Champions League. Bagatskis was playing for Dijon back in the 2000-01 season.

Elias Harris made one out of two free throws to give Bamberg an 84-81 lead but David Holston nailed a very deep triple in the last seconds for Dijon and sent the game into overtime. It was a fight all the way but Tyrese Rice banked the crucial triple to put Bamberg ahead 99-97 and eventually secure the win.

Ricky Hickman led the victors with 18 points while Elias Harris followed with 16 and Bryce Taylor 15 points. For Dijon, David Holston notched game-high 29 in addition to Tarence Kinsey’s 19.

Although Dijon opened the game with five straight points, Bamberg quickly took over the control (25-16) and went on the halftime rest with a 43-34 advantage. They increased the lead to as much as 15 points (60-45) after the break but the hosts managed to bounce back and send the game into overtime which belonged to Bamberg in the end.

Bamberg improved to 6-3 while Dijon now stands at a 2-6 record in Group C.
