Bologna fires Stefano Sacripanti, hires Aleksandar Djordjevic as new head coach

Segafredo Virtus Bologna announced to have parted ways with coach Stefano Sacripanti and that the head coach position will be filled by Aleksandar Djordjevic.

Djordjevic has been a free agent since March 2018 when he got sacked by Bayern after elimination in the EuroCup semifinals. Before that he coached Panathinaikos, Treviso and Milano while he has been on the head of Serbian national team since 2013 winning an Olympic, World Cup and EuroBasket silver medals.

Bologna is currently trailing in the Italian League playoffs race with a 10-11 record (10th) while on Wednesday (13/3), they play Game 2 of Basketball Champions League Round of 16 against Le Mans. The first game ended in a tie (74-74) and the winner of the next one will advance to quarterfinals.
