Shengelia hands Virtus win over Milano to begin semifinals

Tornike Shengelia scored 18 points and made the winning layup with seven seconds remaining as Virtus Bologna beat Olimpia Milano 68 – 67 in Game 1 of the Italian League semifinals.

Milano led 64 – 67 in the final minute. Shengelia scored a basket after an offensive rebound from his own missed shot to put his team close to 1 point. On the other end, Zach LeDay went 0 -2 from the line for Milano before the Georgian forward’s game-winner.

Apart from Shengelia, Will Clyburn scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds for Virtus. Shavon Shields led Milano with 14 points.
