Sassari holds off Venezia and ties series at 2-2

Banco di Sardegna Sassari managed to hold off Umana Reyer Venezia late comeback and record a 95-88 home win in Game 4 of the Italian League Finals. The best-of-seven series is now tied at 2-2 and Venezia will have the home court advantage in Game 5.

Rashawn Thomas led the victors with 19 points and eight rebounds followed by Jack Cooley’s 18 points and nine boards in addition to Dyshawn Pierre’s and Justin Carter’s 12 points each.

For Venezia, MarQuez Haynes banked game-high 22 points while Austin Daye scored 16 and Mitchell Watt ten points.

Sassari was ahead 23-16 after ten minutes and 51-41 at halftime. They kept the distance after the break as well and led by 16 points (83-67) early in the fourth quarter. Venezia made a 19-6 run to cut the gap dangerously close (91-88) but the hosts answered with four straight points which sealed the deal.
