Clippers, Doc Rivers parting ways

Doc Rivers will be leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.  The Clippers were eliminated by Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinal after giving up a 3-1 lead in the series.

Rivers later confirmed the news with a message on Twitter.

The Clippers are the latest NBA team that will have a head coach vacancy after completing the season. The Houston Rockets (Mike D’Antoni not extending his contract), Philadelphia 76ers (Brett Brown fired), Indiana Pacers (Nate McMillan sacked), and New Orleans Pelicans (Alvin Gentry fired) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (mutual agreement with Billy Donovan to part ways) are also searching for their new coach.

Rivers became the Clippers’ coach in 2013. 2019-2020 began with championship hopes for the team after the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George but the Nuggets beat them in the West semifinals with an impressive series comeback.
