Markieff Morris: We got LeBron, but I think AD is the best player in the world

Anthony Davis logged 34 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the NBA Finals Game 1 against the Miami Heat as the LA Lakers started off with a convincing win.

His performance has been on for the history books as only Allen Iverson (48 points), Kevin Durant (36 points) and Michael Jordan (36 points) have scored more points than Davis in their first Finals game.

“It’s a great honor to be in that category with those guys. I mean, they have done so much for the game, Hall of Famers, and for me to come out and perform that way and be mentioned with those guys … obviously that’s a great honor, but I also want to be mentioned in categories with champions, so that’s the next step,” AD said.

His partner in crime in LeBron James, who flirted with a triple-double (25p, 13r, 9a), wasn’t surprised by Davis’ output last night.

“I expect it out of him. Didn’t need to give him any advice. We’ve been preparing for this moment all season. He’s been preparing for this moment all season. I’m happy to be on the same floor with him and in the same uniform. He was, once again, a force in every facet of the game, offensively and defensively.”

Markieff Morris went a step further and proclaimed AD as the best player in the world right now, despite LeBron James being his teammate as well.

“It’s easy for AD. Like I’ve been saying since I got on this team, honestly, if you ask me… we got LeBron, but I think he’s the best player in the world. He does it on both ends, he’s doing it consistently every night, he gives you what you ask for every night.”
