Isaiah Thomas will be signing a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans according to ESPN’s Andrew Lopez. The deal will mark Thomas’ return with a club for the first time in more than a year.
Thomas, a two-time All-Star, had been a free agent since he was waived the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2020, just two days after the team acquired him in a trade with the Washington Wizards. The 32-year-old guard joined Team USA for the FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers this February, scoring 19 points in a 93 – 77 win over Bahamas and then having nine points in a victory over Mexico.
Before he got traded by the Wizards, Thomas averaged 12.2 points plus 3.7 assists in 23.1 minutes over 40 games.
