Magic, coach Clifford to part ways

The Orlando Magic will proceed to the new season without coach Steve Clifford. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides have reached a mutual agreement to part ways.

Wojnarowski reports that the Magic will move to a “rebuilding process” after failing to make the 2021 playoffs. This procedure apparently doesn’t include Clifford who had been a part of the team since 2018.

Clifford’s exit from the Magic is the second coaching change on an NBA team in the same day, following Terry Stots’ departure from the Portland Trail Blazers. The Magic are interested in Stots, per Marc Stein of the New York Times.
