Igor Kokoskov is nearing an agreement to become an assistant to new Dallas Mavericks head coach, Jason Kidd, according to Marc Stein.

Kokoskov, 49, was already linked to the Mavericks by previous reports.

He has previously worked in the NBA as the Phoenix Suns head coach in the 2018-19 season. His multiple jobs as an assistant feature the Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz, and Sacramento Kings.

The past season he coached Fenerbahce Beko. The Mavs likely had to buy out his contract with the Turkish powerhouse to secure his services.

Kokoskov is set to reunite with Luka Doncic. Their previous run together resulted in Slovenia capturing the 2017 EuroBasket title.
