Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis will become a free agent. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Portis is declining the $3.8M option on his contract with the Bucks and will look at his options in the upcoming free agency (2/8).

The Bucks can still re-sign Portis but the maximum they can offer him is $5.9M per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Portis averaged 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in the 2020-21 regular season plus 8.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in the playoffs to help the Bucks win their first NBA championship in 50 years. He had a particularly key presence in the decisive Game 6, when he dropped 16 points while playing some strong defense as Milwaukee got the win that gave them the title.
