Klay Thompson may be one week away from comeback

Klay Thompsons’ (very) long-awaited return to NBA courts may be happening very soon. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, there’s “optimism” that the Golden State Warriors star will play against the Cleveland Cavaliers next Sunday (9/1).

The Warriors’ final decision on the matter will likely be taken on Friday (7/2) upon the team’s return from a two-game road trip (vs. the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans).

Thompson last appeared on the court on June 13, 2019 and Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Toronto Raptors. The three-time champion and five-time All-Star had 30 points before exiting the match in the third quarter with what was revealed to be a torn ACL.

While Thompson was getting ready to make his comeback ahead of 2020-21, he suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in a pickup game and was forced to sit out another season.

After missing the playoffs for two straight seasons, the Golden State Warriors have the best record in the NBA right now with 28 – 7. Thompson’s comeback to the team and reunion with Splash Bro Steph Curry will further boost the Oakland side in its effort to return to its former dynasty mode.
