Luka Doncic on Nikola Jokic: He’s just a different guy, he loves his horses

Luka Doncic joined his former teammate JJ Redick on ‘The Old Man & The Three’ podcast talking about various topics but also touched upon the cultural difference between the European and US superstars, with the former being low-maintenance. Luka’s first thought was Nikola Jokic and his low-profile personality.

“Jokic doesn’t have Instagram or anything, he’s just a different guy. He loves his horses. I tried to convince him to make Instagram but he said ‘no, no chance’,” Luka said about Jokic with whom he’s developed a close bond, especially during the All-Star Weekends, as the duo usually gets paired up in all activities.

It wasn’t his first time talking about it but Doncic also reiterated his idols while developing and pointed out to Vassilis Spanoulis, Sergio Llull, and LeBron James.

“I’ve got both. Obviously Spanoulis, he was a legend. He retired a year ago or two years. I’ve always admired him. He was a great leader, one of the clutches guys ever. He was really clutch. Just his game, he was amazing. Then my teammate, Sergio Llull, he was just unbelievable. The best player in Europe when I was there. He helped me a lot. Watching him practice, practicing against him. Just the way he plays with a lot of energy, he helped me a lot,” Luka said about the European influences and then moved on to the NBA.

“I couldn’t watch a lot of NBA, it was like at three in the morning, night hours. But obviously, LeBron, everything he’s done, his skills. He’s scoring 50 at the age of 37. It’s unbelievable. I think those three guys, I watched them a lot.”
