Ivica Zubac to sign three-year, 33M extension with Clippers

Ivica Zubac was expecting that the Los Angeles Clippers will exercise the team option (7.5 million) on his contract for the upcoming season and now he’s getting something even better.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Zubac has agreed to a three-year, 33 million extension with the Clippers. The club declined the 2023 option so that the Croatian center could sign this new deal.

Zubac, 25, comes off the top season of his NBA career so far. He averaged 10.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocks in 24.4 minutes (also a career-high) over 76 games and was a starter in all of his appearances.

The Clippers were reported to be quite satisfied with Zubac’s development in 2021-22 and are hoping that he will continue improving at the same rate. In an interview with Eurohoops, Zubac also talked about how satisfied he was with his performances last season and particularly with the trust Clippers coach Ty Lue gives him.
