According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers are “in the final stages of completing a deal to acquire Rui Hachimura” from the Washington Wizards.

The Japanese forward, drafted by the Wizards in the 2019 NBA Draft with the 9th overall pick, will be part of a “package that includes three second-round picks and guard Kendrick Nunn”.

As Adrian Wojnarowski explained, “Hachimura and the Wizards were unable to agree on a rookie extension prior to the season and trade became more likely as Kyle Kuzma solidified himself as a priority to sign to a long-term deal in the Wizards front court”.

Rui Hachimura, who will represent Japan in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, played at home, is averaging 13 points and 4.3 rebounds per game with Washington.

The Los Angeles Lakers, which started the 2022-23 NBA Regular Season poorly, are getting closer to the playoff race in the Western Conference with a 22-25 record.
