Giannis Antetokounmpo emerges once more as Player of the Week

A league-high fourth Player of the Week nod for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo, 28, is the Eastern Conference Player of the Week with Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers notching the respective award of the Western Conference, as announced by the NBA Monday to recap the 16th week of the Regular Season from January 30 to February 5. The same two players were named Players of the Week last week as well.

The Freak averaged 41 points per game in three wins this week. Adding 17.3 points and 5.7 assists per contest lifted him to the latest weekly distinction. Lillard went for 38.3 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per contest fueling a 3-1 run for Portland.

Among other nominees was back-to-back season MVP Nikola Jokic, as noted. Denver Nuggets teammate Jamal Murray, Mikal Bridges of the Phoenix Suns, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers were also shortlisted in the West. On to the East, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Markelle Fultz of the Orlando Magic, Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, and Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets missed the cut.
