Sasha Vezenkov needs to keep fighting for his place in King’s rotation

Last season’s EuroLeague top scorer and MVP, Sasha Vezenkov, moved his talents to the NBA with the Sacramento Kings and had an efficient preseason debut, but his role with the team at the beginning of the regular season is still unclear.

Sacramento’s coach, Mike Brown, is still trying to figure out where former Barcelona and Olympiacos player fits with the team but admits he’s showing his offensive prowess at the very beginning.

He played well for us offensively against Toronto. He’s getting better. We’re taking a look at different combinations, and we may throw Sasha with the second five. The only thing that may not happen is I don’t think I’ll mess with the starting five, but the second and third five can change at any time. Sasha showed his versatility on offense,” Brown said.

He doesn’t know yet if Vezenkov will be part of the rotation when the regular season begins.

I don’t know if he will be or not. He has to keep fighting his behind off and getting better at every opportunity, whether in practice, shootarounds, or games.”

After dominating in an Olympiacos jersey and taking the most significant individual awards in Europe last season, Vezenkov scored 12 points in 11 minutes in his debut with the Kings, being the team’s top scorer in a loss to the Raptors, but admitted in the aftermath that European and NBA basketball feel very different to him.
