On the list of free agents, Danilo Gallinari can be heading to the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are showing interest in the 35-year-old Italian forward, according to The Arizona Republic.

With two available slots following the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday, the franchise based in Arizona is finalizing a deal with Thaddeus Young, as reported by ESPN. Gallinari is a candidate to cover the second open spot on the roster.

Currently ranked sixth in the Western Conference behind a 31-22 record, the Suns are looking to build additional depth to strengthen the championship bid down the stretch of the 2023-24 Regular Season. The existing European contribution is attached to Bosnian Jusuf Nurkic, starting center alongside leading players Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant.

Gallinari, 35, was waived by the Detroit Pistons on Friday. He tallied 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 0.3 steals per contest over six appearances since arriving in Motor City via trade in January. Earlier in the season, he averaged 7.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game with the Washington Wizards.

A veteran of 808 games played in the NBA, including 48 in the Playoffs, the experienced forward went from the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets to the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Atlanta Hawks before the brief spells at Washington and Detroit. He was selected with the sixth overall pick of the 2008 NBA draft.
