The NBA’s global expansion is set to reach a new milestone as three-time Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic prepares to lead the Denver Nuggets into Mexico City for a clash against the Indiana Pacers during the 2026-27 Regular Season, on November 7. The league shared additional details on The NBA Mexico City Game 2026 on Thursday.
The matchup at Arena CDMX is timed to coincide with the vibrant Día de Muertos celebrations, marking the NBA’s 35th game in Mexico. The selection highlights the team’s international appeal, headlined by Jokic’s unique brilliance and Serbian heritage.
Kevin Demoff, KSE president of team and media operations, noted the significance of the choice, stating, “As a team led by two electrifying stars born outside of the U.S., we are honored anytime we can showcase Nuggets basketball to NBA fans around the world”.
This journey represents the latest chapter in the Sombor native’s storied tenure with the Nuggets, following previous global appearances, including a dominant regular-season victory over the Pacers in London in 2017 and a preseason stint at the NBA Abu Dhabi Games in 2024. Beyond the NBA, Jokic has built a legendary career representing Serbia in several major international tournaments.
Raul Zarraga, NBA Latin America and Canada senior vice president and head of operations, emphasized the depth of this connection, remarking that the event “reflects the role this event plays in bringing the global game to fans locally”.
The game will feature a specially themed court and in-arena activations, providing a premier stage for Jokic to connect with a passionate Latin American fan base while continuing his legacy as a global basketball icon.
