After Giannis Antetokounmpo moved to the Miami Heat, Julius Randle was also traded last night.
In a three-team trade, Randle ended up with the Brooklyn Nets, but Minnesota received little in return for the three-time All-Star. It seems they just wanted to offload his contract.
The Brooklyn Nets were included in the deal, acquiring Randle (and the No. 28 pick in the Draft), as well as the Chicago Bulls, who received Nic Claxton from the Nets.
In this way, Randle, who has an active contract through the 2027–2028 season (with a player option), returns to the New York area, from where he departed (the Knicks) in 2024 with Minnesota as his destination.
According to reports in the United States, Naz Reid is expected to take Randle’s spot in the Timberwolves’ starting five.
Last season, Randle played 79 games, averaging 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and five assists
