The New Orleans Pelicans have exercised their third-year team option on Karlo Matković, keeping the Croatian big man under contract for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Matković will earn $2.23 million next season after showing steady development in his second NBA campaign. The 24-year-old averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game while shooting 60.4% from the field and an impressive 42.2% from three-point range.

Selected with the 52nd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Matković arrived in New Orleans in 2024 after spending two more seasons in Europe. His athleticism, rim protection and outside shooting have made him a valuable frontcourt option off the bench.

With free agency approaching, the Pelicans have now secured one of their young rotation players as they continue shaping the roster for next season.
