Kasparas Jakucionis believes Barcelona should have done more to keep Sarunas Jasikevicius after the Lithuanian coach left the club in 2023.
The former Barça prospect, who was recently traded from the Miami Heat to the Milwaukee Bucks, revealed that he still keeps in touch with the coach who gave him his senior debut.
“We still keep in contact. We don’t talk every day, but sometimes we text each other,” Jakucionis said per Mundo Deportivo.
Asked whether Barcelona should have tried harder to retain Jasikevicius, Jakucionis gave a straightforward answer.
“I don’t know much about the whole situation, but I think so.”
Barcelona have appointed four different head coaches since Jasikevicius departed, with Aleksander Sekulic becoming the latest to take charge.
Reflecting on the club’s recent struggles, Jakucionis added:
“I don’t know what the mistakes were, but you only have to look to the future. You can’t go back now, only forward.“
