With LeBron James signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Miami Heat will continue to shape its future around the new duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
After James made his decision, the Heat moved forward without him, and Adebayo sent a message to the 41-year-old star.
According to The Miami Herald, Adebayo said: “To me, you should always be happy for the decision he made. He made a decision that he felt was the best situation for him to win. And I feel like I’m a good friend of LeBron’s.”
Adebayo and LeBron particularly strengthened their friendship during their time with the USA National Team at the Paris Olympics, where both won gold medals. Adebayo later revealed the message he sent to James after deciding to sign with Philadelphia instead of returning to Miami.
“Like I told him in the message, I’m going to bust his ass. So, it’s going to be an exciting season. I’m excited for the East. We got a whole new turnaround in the East. So, it’s going to be exciting this year.”
LeBron James spent four seasons with the Heat, reaching the NBA Finals each season, winning two championships in 2012 and 2013, and being named the Most Valuable Player twice.
