Kevin Durant doesn’t want reduced minutes: “The team is better when I’m on the court”

Kevin Durant has made it clear to coach Ime Udoka and everyone in management that he does not want to have limited or reduced minutes this season.

One of the best scorers in NBA history, Durant was the second player with the most minutes played in the regular season last year before he suffered an injury at the start of the playoffs, after which the Houston Rockets were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

Ime Udoka mentioned that KD might have reduced minutes in the upcoming season, which Durant himself was asked about. However, it seems that Kevin would not be very pleased with that decision.

“Why? I’m better on the court. The team is better when I’m on the court. If we had taken care of our business in the first three quarters or earlier in the game, then maybe. But, just for the sake of cutting my minutes because I’m older or because I’ve played a lot of minutes…

That’s what I’m supposed to be training for, to play the long haul, 48 minutes a night. If the game needs me to be out there, I want to be out there.”

The Houston season starts on October 21st, with a home game against the Dallas Mavericks.
